EPD preparation for every part of the exam

Preparation organised by the parts of the exam, with no topics you do not need: theory and plenty of tasks for every part. Reading tasks come with the answer explained, and your grammar answers and texts are checked by AI, which explains the mistake and shows a corrected version. Take as many timed mock exams as you like: each one is a new variant in the exam's format. Access opens right after payment.

The exam pass (€79) gives 3 months of access from the day you pay and then ends on its own. The monthly plan (€39) runs one month at a time and renews until you cancel it.

The exam pass is a single payment: it never renews and there is nothing to cancel. The monthly plan renews every month; you can cancel it at any time from your account page, and access continues until the end of the month you have already paid for.

Yes. The exam pass includes oral exam practice: AI conversation, monologue and discussion. With the monthly plan it is a one-time add-on of €10 for 3 months.

Since June 2026 the written part has four sections and takes 180 minutes: Leseverstehen (50 min, 20 points), Hörverstehen (35 min, 15 points), Strukturen und Wortschatz (35 min, 15 points) and Textproduktion (60 min, 25 points), 75 points in total. Hörverstehen is new in this format. The oral exam is a separate sitting: at least 15 minutes of preparation, then about 10 minutes of speaking, a prepared monologue and a spontaneous conversation of about 5 minutes each.

45 of 75 overall, and each section has its own minimum that you must also reach: 10 of 20 in Leseverstehen, 5 of 15 in Hörverstehen, 7 of 15 in Strukturen und Wortschatz, 12 of 25 in Textproduktion. Both conditions bind, so 45 overall is not enough if one section falls below its minimum.

None in the written exam. No dictionaries and no electronic aids of any kind are allowed, and your notes are collected at the end. The oral exam is the opposite: a monolingual German dictionary is supplied by the VWU for the preparation time, so you do not bring one yourself.

The fee is 66 euros per attempt and covers both the written and the oral part. The EPD is held six times a year and you register online only, in the VWU student portal (portal.vwu.at), before the deadline. The written exam may be repeated four times, and the oral exam four times separately.

Written exam results arrive by email in about 1.5 weeks. The oral exam result is announced immediately after you finish.

You choose one of two tasks, prepare for at least 15 minutes with the supplied monolingual dictionary, then speak freely for about 5 minutes along the printed Leitfragen: reading out a written-up text is not accepted. After the monologue the examiner gives you a new impulse for a spontaneous conversation of about 5 minutes.
