Accessibility Statement

1. Our Commitment

VWUPass is committed to making our platform usable by as many people as possible, including people with disabilities. Our target is conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. This is an ongoing effort: we have not yet commissioned a formal accessibility audit or certification, and we continue to work toward the target as the platform evolves.

2. Conformance Status

VWUPass is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means that some parts of the site meet the target, while other parts do not fully meet it yet, because we have not carried out a complete accessibility audit of the whole platform.

3. Known Limitations

We want to be upfront about where we currently fall short. Known limitations include:

  • Some custom interactive trainer and exam components (such as drag-and-drop tasks and canvas-based widgets) may not be fully operable by keyboard alone or fully compatible with screen readers.
  • Some color combinations, particularly in the violet ("Lena") themed areas, may not meet AA contrast ratios in all states.
  • Diagrams drawn directly inside theory articles (inline SVG) carry no text alternative, so a screen reader announces nothing in their place.
  • Figures in past exams do carry a text alternative, but a short description cannot always convey everything a sighted reader takes from a plotted curve or a geometric construction.
  • Some third-party embedded content, such as audio players, may have accessibility limitations that are outside our control.

4. What We Are Doing

We prioritize and fix accessibility issues as we become aware of them, whether through internal review or user feedback. This statement is updated as our conformance improves, so the limitations listed above should shrink over time rather than stay fixed.

6. Enforcement

VWUPass is based in Vienna, Austria. Since 28 June 2025, digital services offered by private providers to consumers, including this platform, fall under the Barrierefreiheitsgesetz (BaFG), Austria's transposition of the EU Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882). If you are not satisfied with our response to an accessibility report, you may file a complaint with the Sozialministeriumservice, which acts as the market surveillance authority under the BaFG and can order corrective measures.
